Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was born within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local university. In the hopes of following in her father's footsteps, she graduated with an education in chemical engineering. So that she could achieve her dream of becoming an actor, she moved to New York. When she was not appearing in Broadway productions, she also worked as a waitress. She was in a minor part in the film "Felicity" (where the show was where she first encountered Scott Foley). Garner made her debut in Alias which is an action-thriller. Her debut performance was in the highly praised romantic comedy 13 Going on 30. In it she played the young woman trapped within a 30years old body. Garner picked Gary Winick to direct the film, and they were looking at other projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner was named an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. Apart from promoting early education, literacy as well as nutrition at a national level, Garner's role also includes promotion of the literacy of all Americans. Garner is a board member on the organization's board since 2014, has been an advocate of early education. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program, Garner visits families regularly to guide them in ways to inspire their kids to be successful.
