After receiving acclaim for her supporting roles in The Cotton Club and Red Dawn she became an overnight actor in Ferris Bueller's Day Off with Matthew Broderick, portraying the jealous sister Jeannie. She appeared as Rita in David Milch HBO series John from Cincinnati.
