April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4 April, 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began to take guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion for songwriting. April Lockhart wrote her first single"Different" when she was twelve years old. When she was 14 April was devoted for a long period of time in making song lyrics and working on the music she was playing. In the following months, April started to take trips across NY and LA along with her dad to help them compose songs. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure problems and suicides among teenagers. Lockhart is a partner at popular cosmetics brand Ilia as well as an influencer in the lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. She has a disability that is a component of her identity, but it is not the whole picture. So, Lockhart's Instagram profile does not shy away from her disability, but the focus isn't on her disability as well. The message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and we're more than our physical selves. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability is what defines my character. My goal is not to influence disability because I have so much more to offer." My daily life isn't affected by it. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with myself solutions for problems. It's also a part of me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. Her journey to self-acceptance will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she can be a role model in this regard. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases with her physique, feeling insecure at times to wear clothing that displayed her arms. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she chooses on social media. She says that self-love is a journey. It's hard to say whether you'll get to the end. This is true for everyone, no matter what their levels of anxiety. It's my opinion that having those around you who really understand you and can see your feelings is crucial as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you worrying about?
